Nine
In a year packed with remakes, this is perhaps the bravest of all: taking on Fellini’s hugely influential 8½ but going just that little bit further, it’s the behind-the-scenes story of an Italian movie director featuring a stellar cast (Including Nicole Kidman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz and Dame Judi Dench), some of whom will be singing. The purists will be furious, the rest of us merely sceptical. Mamma Mia it isn’t.

Planet 51
A classic 1950s B-Movie plot – alien lands among the white picket fences of a fearful, simple small-town community. The twist is that the alien is an Earthly astronaut and the small town folk are little green men. A promising CG-animated caper for younger cinemagoers in the 2009 Christmas holiday

Jordan Sparks
American Idol's sixth season winner Jordin Sparks had a highly successful self-titled first album. It landed in the top 10, sold over a million copies and generated three top 10 pop singles. However, thus far, landing a #1 pop song has eluded her. That could all change with her latest single "Battlefield." The song is the first release from her upcoming second album, also titled Battlefield. Jordin Sparks' new song has hit written all over it. This may be the summer Jordin Sparks becomes an enduring pop superstar.

Kristinia DeBarge
Kristinia DeBarge has a stellar pop-soul pedigree being the daughter of one of the leaders of the family group DeBarge. She looks to a classic hit song to help fuel her debut hit "Goodbye." She is only 19, but need we remind you that a certain 17 year old named Rihanna kicked her career off with the summer smash "Pon De Replay" only four years ago? Black Eyed Peas
Some may have thought that Fergie's ascendance as a solo star would spell the end of the Black Eyed Peas. That seems far from reality as "Boom Boom Pow" has turned into a massive global pop hit. The group's next album, The E.N.D., hits stores in June, and this just may be the summer of the Peas. Sub-Board: Boom Boom Pow Moderators: Admin, .. |

Daughtry
Can Daughtry avoid the sophomore slump with the follow-up to a four million-selling debut? If the new single "No Surprise" is an indication, it looks like Chris Daughtry's group will do so without breaking a sweat. Look for the new album Leave This Town in stores in July. The Fray
The Fray is a Grammy Award-nominated four-piece piano rock band with Christian influences. Formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King, the Denver-based group released their debut album How to Save a Life in 2005. The band is best known for the song "How to Save a Life", which charted in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 and was also a top 5 single in Canada, Australia, Ireland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The Fray also found national success with the songs "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "You Found Me", which became a top fifteen hit in the United States and Canada.
